Frequently Asked Questions
How does the evolving rating work? +
Your opinion isn't set in stone, and neither are your ratings. Log a movie every time you see it. Each viewing gets its own "Rewatch" entry on your profile, and the movie's page features a timeline charting how your ratings and reviews have changed over time.
What is the "Sumup" feature? +
Go beyond simple watch counts. The "Sumup" is your personal data dive, revealing your most-watched directors, top countries of origin, and your hand-picked A+ favorites. See your total movie count and how many you experienced on the big screen.
How do I get my own subdomain? +
When you sign up for RatesMovies, you choose a unique username. Your public dashboard will then be available at {your_username}.ratesmovies.net
. You can share this URL with friends, family, or anyone you want to share your movie taste with.
Is there a difference between watching a movie at the theater and at home? +
Yes! We believe the viewing context is important. You can tag any watch with "seen at the theater" to remember the experience of seeing it on the big screen. This is also reflected in your stats.
Can I import my data from other services? +
This is a feature we are actively working on. Stay tuned for updates!
